About the Icelandic Sheepdog (Imp)
The Icelandic Sheepdog's forebears arrived in Iceland with Scandinavian settlers during the ninth century, and this hardy breed is even mentioned in ancient sagas. Over centuries, these double-coated spitz dogs became adept at herding flocks across harsh landscapes and unforgiving weather, with the first known illustration appearing in 1754. They are able to identify individual sheep and travel long distances to find lost flock members. These intelligent, lively, and confident dogs are a valuable asset, known for their gentle nature.
