About the Spaniel (American Water) (Imp)
This brown water spaniel, as it was originally known, was bred in the American Midwest to retrieve ducks and flush out waterfowl, thus combining traits of both spaniels and retrievers. It shares visual similarities with the Irish Water Spaniel, especially its coat type and love for water, making it ideal for accompanying hunters in boats and diving to fetch shot birds. Though not widely seen outside the USA, it’s a dedicated and capable working companion.
