About the Akita
This magnificent dog, the largest in its group, originates from Japan where it was bred for hunting, including bear, deer, and wild boar, and sadly, for fighting. The Akita we see today, particularly with its stronger bone and substance, was further developed in America, creating an impressive sight. Like many Japanese breeds, a clear and brilliant coat colour is highly prized in this dog.
