About the Australian Cattle Dog
Combining strength and speed, this breed, sometimes called the Blue or Red Heeler, originated for herding cattle, often nipping at their heels to drive them. Descended from Hall's Heelers, which crossed Australian Dingoes with colonial drovers' dogs, their exact ancestry remains a bit of a mystery. With their distinctive blue or red speckled coats, these tireless dogs are highly protective, making them excellent guard dogs.
