For around five centuries, dogs resembling today's Bearded Collie have been herding cattle and sheep across the Scottish Borders and Highlands. These shaggy-coated dogs were once quite rare by the 1940s, but a chance encounter led to their revival and the establishment of the modern breed. With their distinctive appearance and lively spirit, Beardies make wonderful, engaging companions for many.
