About the Border Terrier
This terrier takes its name from the borders of Northumberland and Scotland, where it emerged around 1880, known locally as the Reedwater or Coquetdale Terrier. Originally an earth dog, it worked alongside Border Foxhounds, prized for its gameness. The Border Terrier remains an essentially working breed, highly popular in the countryside. Its adaptable nature also allows it to fit beautifully into family life in towns and cities, making it a versatile and cherished companion.
