About the Bouvier Des Flandres
The Bouvier des Flandres, whose name translates to 'cattle herder', originated in the Flanders region as a traditional working dog, though many regional types were lost during the First World War. Thanks to Captain Barbry, a Belgian army vet, the breed was saved and a careful breeding programme began. This strong dog possesses a dense, matt coat and has proven its versatility in roles such as following trails, pulling carts, and guarding, even serving as an ambulance dog in the armed forces. A truly robust and capable companion.
