Known as the Italian Pointer in its native country, this HPR breed's origins, like many Continental European 'Braque' breeds, may stem from combining scent hounds with bird dogs. The Bracco Italiano shares some physical traits with the Spinone, but is distinguished by its short, glossy, and elastic coat. Its elegant movement has earned it considerable admiration in the show ring since its introduction to the UK in the 1990s, making it a stylish and admired gundog.
