About the Cairn Terrier
As one of Scotland's native breeds, the Cairn Terrier has been employed in the Western Highlands and on the Isle of Skye since the 17th century to control vermin. Often working in small packs, they derive their name from the stone cairns common in the moors. Lighter in build than other Scottish terriers, this spirited, hardy, and rough-coated sporting terrier remains remarkably unchanged in appearance over centuries, a testament to its enduring charm.
