About the Dobermann
Originating in Apolda, Germany, the Dobermann was developed by tax collector Louis Dobermann in the late 19th century. He sought a courageous, intelligent dog to protect him during his work. This squarely built, clean-lined breed, with its distinctive wedge-shaped head and keen expression, combines traits from various breeds like the Weimaraner and Rottweiler. Highly intelligent and trainable, Dobermanns have served with armed forces and police, yet their loyal and obedient nature also makes them splendid family companions.
