About the Finnish Spitz
The Finnish Spitz, Finland's national dog, had its first breed standard penned in 1892. Originally used for tracking large game like elk and bear, signalling with its distinctive barking, it now employs the same vociferous technique for finding game birds perched in trees, alerting hunters in thick forests. This spitz breed boasts a wedge-shaped head, a compact body, a stand-off outer coat, and a tightly curled tail. Its admired bright red, iridescent coat makes it a striking and lively companion.
