About the French Bulldog
The French Bulldog traces part of its heritage back to Great Britain in the 1850s, originating from a smaller Bulldog type popular in Nottingham. Lace makers emigrating to Northern France took these dogs with them, where they evolved into the distinctive breed we know today, possibly with crosses to other short-faced dogs. Unlike other Bulldogs, they boast large 'Bat Ears', giving them a charmingly clownish look. This breed has recently enjoyed a significant surge in popularity in the UK, becoming a much-loved companion.
