About the Greyhound
Long-legged hounds resembling Greyhounds were depicted in Ancient Egyptian tombs, believed to be the forerunners of sighthounds. With their athletic, streamlined bodies and keen eyesight, these dogs quickly gained popularity across the continent for their hunting abilities. The Greyhound was further developed in Britain, where its prestige was such that a medieval law restricted hunting with them to royalty and nobility. Today's show ring Greyhounds are typically larger and heavier than their racing counterparts.
