About the Irish Setter
The Irish Setter, originally known as the Red Setter, was developed through careful breeding for colour and some outcrossing to achieve a more refined build and longer head. This resulted in a dog with a glamorous coat, lighter bone, and a finer head compared to its cousins. This breed quickly found great success in the show ring during the mid-19th century, becoming more popular than the Irish Red and White Setter. They are truly magnificent dogs, admired for their striking appearance.
