About the Irish Wolfhound
The Irish Wolfhound's origins trace back to dogs brought by Phoenician sailors, crossed with Mastiffs to create a gigantic, fast, and strong hound capable of tackling wolves in Ireland. While originally found with both smooth and rough coats, only the rough-coated variant exists presently. Despite their immense size, commonly cited as the tallest hound and largest of all breeds, they are famously gentle and calm, truly earning their reputation as gentle giants.
