Hailing from the expansive marshes of northern Italy's Romagna district, the Lagotto Romagnolo was originally bred as a 'curly coated duck retriever', a purpose evident in its name. With the draining of these marshes, its acute scenting abilities found a new calling, making it the primary truffle hunter in its homeland today. This charming Italian breed, recognised by The Kennel Club in 1991, has since demonstrated its retrieving skills in gundog tests here in the UK, proving a versatile and engaging companion.
