About the Lowchen
Though its name is German, the Lowchen, pronounced ‘lerv-chun’, is thought to be French in origin and belongs to the Bichon family. This breed earns its 'Little Lion Dog' epithet from its traditional clip, featuring shaved hindquarters, a plumed tail, and a mane-like coat over its neck and shoulders. This unique grooming style not only gave it a symbolic, protective power but also contributed to its charm as a warm and comforting companion for its owners.
