About the Poodle (Toy)
The Poodle's origins lie in Germany, where it was developed as a water retriever for duck hunters, descending from various European water dogs. The breed's iconic trim, often perceived as a fancy show style, is in fact a traditional and functional one: the hindquarters were shorn to aid propulsion in water, while protective hair bands, now charmingly known as pom-poms, guarded joints and the tail tip from the chill. Toy Poodles offer the same delightful features and intelligence as their larger relatives, perfectly sized for modern living.
