About the Retriever (Golden)
The Golden Retriever's origins are credited to the first Lord Tweedmouth, who bred a yellow dog from black Wavy Coated Retrievers mated with the Tweed Water Spaniel, producing four yellow puppies. Further additions to the lineage included the Bloodhound and Irish Setter, leading to the popular yellow Retrievers of the Border Counties. Recognised by The Kennel Club in 1913, this beloved breed is celebrated for its friendly nature and versatility, making it a wonderful family companion and working dog.
