Originating from Canada, the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, affectionately known as the Toller, arrived in Britain in 1988, quickly gaining admirers. This clever dog was bred to 'toll' or lure wildfowl within gun range, reputedly using its vigorous tail action, and is also an excellent retriever, especially from water, thanks to its webbed feet. Selected over generations for intelligence and trainability, the Toller makes an enthusiastic companion for active households, excelling in various activities and charming with its handsome, richly coloured coat.
