About the Saluki
The elegant Saluki, a light-footed hound from the Middle East, was highly prized by the Bedouins, much like their Arabian horses, with Sheikhs meticulously recording their hunting prowess. Their quarry included hare, fox, and gazelle, often hunted on horseback with falcons. Due to the varied hunting terrains, the breed developed different types, such as desert and mountain, differing in size and substance. Believed to be named after an ancient Arabian city, this breed is steeped in exotic history and continues to be admired for its grace, gentle nature, and distinctive light, lifting movement.
