About the Scottish Terrier
Like other native Scottish breeds, the Scottish Terrier was specifically developed to pursue fox, badger, and other vermin underground. Initially known as the Aberdeen Terrier due to its prevalence in that area, it gained the title 'Scottish Terrier' in 1879, thanks to Captain Gordon Murray's careful breeding programme. Affectionately known as the 'Scottie', it is remarkably substantial for its size, with a short back, strong neck, and a long head with small pricked ears, giving it an unmistakable outline. These 'multum in parvo' dogs possess great character, often described as independent to the point of stubbornness, making them wonderfully unique companions.
