About the Shetland Sheepdog

The small Isles of Shetland, off Scotland's Northeast Coast, are home to the Shetland Sheepdog, a breed perfectly suited for the small acreage, much like the Shetland pony. It's thought that Scottish Sheepdogs, the ancestors of Collies, contributed to their lineage. When first shown at Crufts in 1906, they were exhibited as miniature Collies, though subtle differences exist. In more recent times, the Shetland Sheepdog has excelled in the show ring, obedience, and agility; its sweet nature has firmly established it as a highly popular family companion.
