About the Spaniel (Clumber)
The Clumber Spaniel first appeared in the UK towards the end of the 18th century, named after Clumber Park in Nottingham, ancestral home of the Dukes of Newcastle. The 2nd Duke is credited with introducing and fostering the breed, possibly receiving dogs of this type from a friend around 1770. This breed, the heaviest of the spaniel family, was specifically used to flush game from dense cover. With its noble history and gentle demeanour, the Clumber makes a distinguished and loyal companion.
