About the Spaniel (Welsh Springer)
The striking red and white Welsh hunting dog, chronicled in Welsh literature during the Middle Ages, is believed to be the ancestor of the Welsh Springer Spaniel. This breed is exclusively found in this vibrant red and white colouration. Once simply known as a Welsh Spaniel, these dogs contributed to the establishment of the parti-coloured Cocker Spaniel. The Kennel Club officially recognised this lovely breed in 1902, and it continues to be a cherished part of the spaniel family.
