About the Welsh Corgi (Cardigan)
The Cardigan Welsh Corgi, thought to be the older of the two Corgi types, hails from Wales where its short legs were ideal for driving livestock. Traditionally, these dogs were used to herd cattle, guiding them throughout the day and guarding them overnight. This breed is longer in body than its Pembroke counterpart and has slightly bowed front legs, always sporting an undocked tail. The Cardigan is a charming and capable dog, embodying a rich Welsh heritage.
