About the Yorkshire Terrier
The Yorkshire Terrier's heritage stems from earlier working Black and Tan Terriers, with infusions from Maltese and Skye Terriers, brought by Scottish labourers to the industrial heartlands of Yorkshire. Born black and tan, their silky coats mature to a steel blue and tan, and they retain some terrier instincts, being capable of dealing with domestic rodents. Today, this charming breed, often presented on a special stand in the show ring, remains a popular and beloved house pet.
